Visiting Classroom 11

Benjamin really enjoyed seeing most of his classmates on Friday (some were home sick). The students had wonderful questions and comments. When one boy saw the wheelchair he said, "Benjamin, you are really well equipped!" The students right away started problem solving for how to include Benjamin in their daily activities. I wish you could have seen the smile on his face as he laid on his belly on a wedge pillow during his class meeting time (only a week and a half post surgery :)). This is not only because Benjamin is amazing but also because he has such a supportive school staff. Ben's principal, teacher, student teacher, physical therapist, and school nurse have all been wonderful! We also met Benjamin's new assistant. She is gentle, soft spoken and seems like a wonderful fit for his classroom.

As we were leaving, Benjamin's teacher gave us a book to take home. All of the students in his class had written sentences about why they like Benjamin. He read the entire book to me while we were driving home, trying to decipher what his classmates had written. Benjamin giggled because many of his classmates wrote that they love Ben because he he is silly. What a wonderful gift.
